Raising in Low Limit Hold Em

There is an aspect of poker making it ominously similar to bridge.

Your bet, just like your bid in bridge, is intended to say something about your hand to your opponents. Of course you want to make your opponent only think that his hand is better than yours. All the while he’s trying (and failing) to do the same.

Just realize - if you re-raise, you are saying a lot about your hand. Your hand needs to be there. You can’ t bluff on a reraise in low limit, it’ll cause you too many problems. If they raise you again? They most likely have the hand you think they have.

You have a four suit flush after the flop, so you want to re-raise? No. Check the raises. Hope that stragglers will come in, because more people in in this situation helps you. After the flop, say, at the river? You shouldn’t be there really, but if you are….check. Check. Check. You don’t have anything, let them think that. They’ll keep pushing and once you get good at bluffing
