Chemically Induced Gambling Addiction?

Posted on July 13th, 2005 by brother9 in Gambling Addiction

There has been some recent research to show that some people receiving dopamine agonists in the treatment for Parkinson’s disease develop addictive personalities, most notably to gambling but also to eating, drinking, and sex.

Those that were on the drug and had these compulsions stopped all compusions within 4 months of ending the drug treatment.

I’ve always felt that gambling addictions are the worst kind. With eating or drugs, for example, if you do too much, you die. If you gamble too much, not only do you lose everything, but by extension your family does as well. Sometimes a creditor can be more vicious than a monkey on your back.
