PokerRoom.com May Soon Reopen For Online Poker

Online poker players may have yet another option soon. According to reports, officials at the Ongame Network are strongly considering whether or not to reopen PokerRoom.com for real money poker games.

PokerRoom was founded in 1999 and originally started as a free play online poker site. At the time, only a couple of site offered real money online poker. Soon, PokerRoom joined those sites and quickly became one of the most trusted sites online. In fact, they were the first site in online poker history to receive a seal of approval from online regulator eCogra.

In the ten years that followed, PokerRoom set the bar for online poker gaming. They constantly improved their site and user experience and was the very first site to develop a Mac poker client for users. In addition, they were among the first site to spread more than Texas Hold’em during the poker boom.

Rumors about the reopening of the site began last week. A tweet by one of bwin.com’s SEO specialists seemingly confirmed the site was reopening. He later back peddled, but most figured it was someone covering up leaked information.

PokerNewsBoy later leaked their own information when reporter James Guill revealed that he had spoken with officials at bwin and they confirmed that they were contemplating whether to reopen the site.

Early last week, the typical banners for PartyPoker and bwin were replaced on PokerRoom and in their place, there a banner with garage with what looks like welding going on inside. The banner claims that PokerRoom is up to something and that they are going “Back to the Future.” There is also a link to their Facebook page.

Since there has not been an “official announcement” from the website regarding PokerRoom reopening, a date is not known but is expected to be sometime soon. Players and interested parties can signup on PokerRoom’s site for further details whether or not players will be able to play poker online there in the near future.
