Sports betting are one of the major well-known gaming pastime that a lot of individuals play. In addition, is additionally one of the cheapest, all you have to do is purchase a ticket and wait at your home till the outcome is in. In addition, gamers could select from nearly all recognized sport to bet on, making it quite varied.

Though, as with any different free on-line gambling game, a lot of could usually end up losing. In addition, certainly, they could end up asking, “Why did I lose? That one was a certain winner.” That one is possibly the largest error any gamer could suppose.

Truth is, there’s no such thing as an simple winner in sports betting. One thing that you should keep in mind is that you have no control on the outcome of the factual game. That means that the team that was touted as the surest one to win could end up as the most horrible losers by the end of the match.

In that one, shortage of experience of the game you’re betting on is one of the main pitfalls that players encounter. Usually, they’re ignorant of how the sport is in fact played such that they could be certainly swayed by such tags as being “undefeated” and “the perfect player.” With the intention of keep away from such troubles, you should by the said time realize in advance how the sport you’re betting on comes. Additionally, you could supervise of the performances of all the teams and players in the sport, so that you realize how they’re in fact going throughout the current season. That way, you have a rather fine plan of their possibilities in a match. In some cases, bettors could even come as much as monitoring key players in every single team.

Alongside knowing how the game works, you should additionally realize how to supervise your funds. Usually, a lot of bettors could be arrogant of their selections that they put in a lot funds to it. At the same time as your information books might show that your preferred team is certainly on a excessive winning streak, it’s yet no purpose to keep on a betting binge and expend of big sums of funds. As have been stated prior to, whatever thing could occur in a match and you might end up losing big funds. As an alternative, you should study to control your bets and lay just sensible amounts.

Discipline is greatly the key in making a fine betting strategy. That one is fairly hard to implement although, as you could certainly get too got, up with all the happenings and certainly fall in betting more. One thing that you could do to control you is to keep in mind that any incorrect move that you make will lose you more funds. That will certainly aid you keep away from tempting offers. The other thing that you require to be disciplined about is your betting frequency. At the same time as you could bet often, keep away from making a tendency of going daily to the betting station, schedule your betting to just several times per week to be certain.

One thing that you additionally require to keep away from is being too overly emotional when betting… Usually players could bet on teams just for sentimental motives. At the same time as that one might be a fine show of support, you run the chance of losing. You should constantly play with a clear mind and come for the side that has the larger possibilities of winning and not you childhood dream team. Keep in mind that it is gambling and that you’re there to get some funds.

The Italian domestic league is one of the most wagered upon leagues in the world, behind only the Primera Liga and Premier League (Spanish and English respectively). Here are the odds for this weekend, some of the stand out matches being Sampdoria vs Inter Milan, AC Milan vs Bari, Juventus vs Bologna.

Bet365 Betfair

Sampdoria – 3.80 Sampdoria – 4.30
Inter Milan – 2.00 Inter Milan – 2.08
Draw - 3.30 Draw - 3.35

AC Milan – 1.33 AC Milan -	1.36
Bari - 11.0 Bari - 11.5
Draw – 4.50 Draw – 5.30

Juventus – 1.22 Juventus – 1.3
Bolgona – 13.0 Bologna – 15
Draw - 6.00 Draw – 5.8

Here you will see that Inter Milan are given 2.0 and 2.12 for the win. These are about as long odds as you can expect for League favourites, so this would be a good bet. Though the draw might be a good option, because the bookies have clearly taken into account team form stats and away-game stats.

Continuing my series of the odds given by two industry-leading websites, Betfair and Bet365, some matches in the Premier League to put money on this weekend include Liverpool vs Hull, Stoke vs Man Utd and London derby Fulham vs Arsenal.

Bet365 Betfair

L’pool – 1.14 L’pool – 1.16
Hull – 23.0 Hull – 34
Draw – 7.50 Draw – 8.8

Stoke – 8.50 Stoke – 10.5
Man Utd – 1.40 Man Utd – 1.41
Draw – 4.50 Draw – 5.10

Fulham – 6.50 Fulham – 7.60
Arsenal – 1.53 Arsenal – 1.57
Draw – 4.00 Draw – 4.10

Liverpool are annoyingly short for the win, while Hull might be a good bet at such ridiculously long odds, saying as the manager’s career rides on a result. Consider the draw at least, but if you do go for the safer option try Liverpool for a win in an accumulator.

Later I’ll take a look at the odds offered for European League matches, to see if the difference is the same across all the major Leagues on offer.

Online gambling site Paddy Power gives its users some of the best accumulator offers. If you click on more than one option in for example the football at the weekend you can increase your payout by putting all your choices together and winning only if they all come through.

A nice way to do this is to pick five teams you feel are definitely going to win. In this way it won’t matter if the odds given are incredibly short in, for example, an Arsenal vs Birmingham game where the odds for Arsenal to take all three points in a win might be as short as 2/9. If you throw five selections like this onto one bet slip and choose a four-way option it means there are five different outcomes with four winners each, all which will bring you more money than if you trebled your stake and bet on each separately. Choose wisely, though, as football can be a funny old game!

While Bet365 has a number of elements which sets it apart from the competitors, I thought it would be interesting to analyse the odds for this coming weekend’s Barclay’s Premier League football. Although Bet365 does beat most sites for good odds I was surprised to find that the one thing it doesn’t beat the industry leader, Betfair, in is sports odds. This of course, is the one thing which most punters might find the most important.

For example, take a look at the odds offered for the 3pm Saturday kickoff of Liverpool v Burnley, 18 hours before the match kicks off. Although both Bet365 and Betfair offer the same odds for the home team (Liverpool) to win, the odds given for the draw and Burnley to win are significantly different-

Bet365: Betfair:
Draw – 6.5 Draw – 7.6
Burnley – 15.0 Burnley – 22.0

This is not exclusive to one match however. Take a look at these three matches for the coming weekend (I should explain now that, unfortunately, due to Betfair restricting its users to use of decimal odds I must do the same here to enable comparison)-

Man City v Arsenal
Bet365: Betfair:
Man City – 2.87 Man City – 3.05
Draw – 3.25 Draw – 3.5
Arsenal – 2.5 Arsenal – 2.56

Stoke v Chelsea
Bet365: Betfair:
Stoke – 9.0 Stoke – 10
Draw – 4.5 Draw – 4.9
Chelsea – 1.4 Chelsea – 1.42

Wigan v West Ham
Bet365: Betfair:
Wigan – 2.37 Wigan – 2.46
Draw – 3.25 Draw – 3.45
West Ham – 3.1 West Ham – 3.2

Although there is never much difference in the odds offered for the favourites to win, the recurring theme seems to be that the odds given for the long bet will be much more satisfying on Betfair. I’m going to keep looking over the next few weeks at which site offers the best odds, bringing in further market analysis. Let me know if you find even longer odds on another sports betting site. Has anyone tried out Betfred’s sports section?…

Normally I’m not one to bet on sports. There’s just too much to go wrong.

[pause]

OK, that was funny, wasn’t it?
The Superbowl, now, that’s a different matter. But I digress.

The NBA finals are now going to game 7. And I thought this might be a good place to discuss a little point spread information with respect to the home court when it comes to basketball.

First, the home court advantage in the NBA averages out to about 3.5 points. Which means that if you have two equal teams, that the spread should be -3.5 for the home team. The current spread on game 7 is San Antonio -5; if it were played at a neutral site the spread should then statistically be SA -1.5. But I have the feeling that all 5 points are home court points. I’d say that outside of injuries to starting players that home court advantage is the largest factor.

The over/under is 174, and that’s a number which I hope I never have to determine. There’s more voodoo than science in picking the over/under. Previous history weighs heavy but since this is the championship game, all bets are out the window. To coin a phrase.

(By the way, in the NFL home field advantage is generally worth 2 points, and nearly non-existent in baseball)

The 131st Kentucky Oaks runs on Friday, and the 130th Kentucky Derby goes off this Saturday.
Naturally, Bellamy Road is the favorite at the Derby, what with a blistering Beyer number of 120 in the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct last April. Nick Zito is the trainer and of course he’s no slouch. Bandini is picked as everyone’s #2, and not in a bad way. Zito actually has five – yes FIVE horses he’s trained in this year. I’m not sure if that’s a record or not but if you look at them -

#16 Belamy Road – favorite opening 5-2
#2 Hero – 50-1
#3 Sun King – 15-1
#4 Noble Causeway – 12-1
#11 High Fly – 8-1

Todd Pletcher, another trainer, has two in this year (Bandini @ 5-1 and Coin Silver @ 20-1), and the Royal Pain himself, Bob Baffert, only has one: the #1 horse, Sort It Out, firing at 50-1.

High Fly is definitely one to look out for. Dangerously undercosted at 8-1, this horse could make for some interesting exotics (though obviously not as interesting as the 2002 Derby when War Emblem and Pround Citizen ran 1-2 and came in at 20-1 and 23-1 respectively. That made for a fantastic $1,300.80 exacta).

My play? Well, it’s still two days to post, but offhand I’m thinking an exacta box with 16, 15, and 12. That’s $12 for a $2 exacta. The #12, Alfeet Alex, is a closer, and the Derby doesn’t favor closers but damn that horse bolted at the Arkansas Derby. The other option is to possibly wheel 16, & 12 over 16, 15, 12, and 11. That’s also $12 in exactas, the losing prop there is if 15 wins rather than comes in second. I’ll have to check the form when it’s posted.

In the Oaks? Sis City. no contest.

I think everyone’s seen what happened at Fenway Park. And It’s a perfect illustration as why I absolutely 100% prefer horseracing to sports gambling.

Humans aren’t really as involved in horseracing as they are in any other sport. That’s why. Sure, every once in a while some yay-hoo gets the Oaklawn Park Special and wanders out onto the track. But generally, the horses are there, they run, and you don’t have to wonder if the 6 horse is shaving time to work off a gambling debt.

Plus horses pay better on a bet. Sports bets are worked to create a 50/50 proposition. That’s the entire point of a line, and over/under. One side of the line pays the same as the other side.

Horseracing, though, pays out the amount wagered (minus the house rake). Which means that if $100,000 was bet across 6 horses, that will be paid out no matter which horse crosses first. Some are just more likely to pay out than others, and people put more money into the #2 horse than the #6….the money is spread across more bettors. So it pays less. That’s how horseracing odds work.

I’ve been in some tiny racetracks (I’m looking at you, Calgary) where I put a $50 bet down and watched my horse move from 17-1 to 6-1.

In related horse-racing news:
in order to drive more people to the track today, Emerald Downs, the horse track nearest Seattle, is not only offering a blanket to the first people to show up today, but they have also set up a branch of the post office, to keep you from using “But I gotta go to the post office to mail my taxes” as an excuse for not showing up and throwing a tenner down on the 9th. As if there wasn’t an already slightly hard-luck aura to the track, now they are actively seeking out people who put their taxes off until the last minute to come in.

Fan-tastic.

Now, I know that most people reading this blog don’t know much about me. I have written other places about gambling, but here it’s a whole new world. It’s Not Seattle.

Anyway, if you did know me you’d realize that I don’t much like writing about other websites. I’m not the kind of shill to write about some website to try to get you to sign up. And I’m not trying to get you to sign up with BetBug.com. It’s P2P gambling. Online.

I can hear you scratching your head. P2P gambling? Huh?

P2P means “peer to peer” and if you already are familiar with that then skip ahead. For the rest of us, that means that files are stored in multiple places and are downloaded from them all at once. KaZaA does this, and BitTorrent invented it. It helps eliminate the load on a server that has a particular video, for instance. It’s the method that most illegal downloading takes place.

But how does this apply to gambling????

I’m glad you asked.

BetBug is one of a couple of P2P gambling sites that appeared late 2004 and are just now getting all the kinks worked out. They don’t take 10% juice on the front end like most sports books, and they don’t take it on the back end of the losers like most real books (ahem). They take a small percentage of the total transaction. Similar to how the house rakes 2% of the pot in a poker round. So what? Well, now the entire spectrum of gambling is open to you.

You wanted to place an over/under bet on the first half of the Women’s NIT champiopnship game? Aw. Good luck finding that action. Unless you’re hooked into P2P. Now you can float your own bet out there. I’m not sure if BetBug allows this but other P2P carriers do – I mention BetBug today because I got an email from them telling me that if I deposit $100 I get a $25 bonus and if I deposit $200 I get a “free Las Vegas Vacation.”

But I’m sure you can see where this is going. Everyone is their own bookie. Before with BitTorrent and other P2P file sharing everyone was their own file server and music distributor. Now you too can be your own private oddsmaker. Tease the Seattle/Minnesota baseball game with an over/under on Shaq’s shooting percentage. Give odds on the Astro’s record for the season. Even bet on who dies first in the next Harry Potter book. ANYTHING IS AVAILABLE TO YOU WITH THIS and has the infinite powers of turning anyone into “out of control gambling guy.”

Good luck – look out.
